dotTrackIt's Heritage

The dotTrackIt system was originally built to monitor and track off-shore ocean racing and build a series of race viewers to keep friends, family, crew members and enthusiasts up to date with the progress of the race.

The system included lots of cool features such as scoring gates, start and finish gates, points of interest, sophisticated measurtement and timing routines to calculate distances and leader board information.

The race viewer also allowed a race to be replayed, the resulting animation gives a comprehensive insight into the skippers decision making and route selection. The viewer also integrated weather forecast overlays, the same data that the boats had, to give a more detailed insight into the choosen route.

dotTrackIt For You

We have taken the core dotTrackIt tracking and visualisation engines and adapted the system to give all adventurers access to the same technology.

The free offering, after registration. allows you to upload your favourite tracks into dotTrackIt and to review your adventure and share it with others. You can combine multiple tracks onto the same display and animate both tracks.

More advanced users can set up races and import tracks information from each competitor. dotTrackIt then smaples each track and syncrononises the animation to show a more accurate picture of who is in the lead.

In the near future we will be opening up other parts of the dotTrackIt infrastructure to allow you to create virtual races, and make the online tracking more widely available.

If you have an immediate need for any of these services, contact the team at dotTrackIt
